Let It Snow...

We woke up yesterday to yet another few inches of that white stuff after it had taken us two days to shovel the last snow we had! But low and behold, help arrived. The Kunkelcrew arrived all deck out in their warm clothes, armed with snow shovels and rescued the old folks. Thank you Hannah, Brennen & Braxton. How blessed we are to have such thoughtful kids.

Jennifers Christmas Memories

Here are my memories. One year things were pretty unhappy at our house at Christmastime. Mom knew just what to do, she loaded us in our very old station wagon, stopped at picadilly fish and chips, braved snow stoms and blowing snow across Strawberry and took us all to Grandma Ina’s house for Christmas. Some how Santa found us there, we were loved and happy. I know now that Grandma Angie just needed her Mom that Christmas but I am not sure she knew that I needed Grandma Ina too. Mom and dad were getting a divorce, I was old enough to know what was going on and still trying to work things out in my own mind as to how to respond to my dad. Well, he came to visit us on Christmas afternoon at Grandma Ina’s house, when he came in I saw my Grandmother welcome him with a hug and tell him that she loved him. I’am not sure how she did it when I know her heart must have been breaking inside for Mom. From her example I knew it was ok for me to still love my dad and it helped me a lot and I have reflected back on it many times.

Here is a funny memory, one year Mom was getting Dave a really cool ski coat, pants, glove, and hat that would match his new “K2 cheeseburger” skis. She had them on lay-a-way at Jerry’s sporting good. Well, Dave thought this might be the case but was not 100% sure, so he went over to Jerry’s and told them “my mom said to come over and try on the things she has on lay-a-way to make sure they fit”. The nice people at Jerry’s thinking they were doing the right thing got them right out, showed him everything and sure enough they fit! David is really sneaky.

Mom always made sure, somehow, that we always had a nice Christmas. I know she sacrificed so much to give us all she could. The best thing she ever gave any of us was her love, and the gift of teaching us to work hard, teaching us to be honest (unless we are talking about the last “TAB” hidden away in the fridge), and to serve and care for our families.

I love my Mother so very much, I hope to be half the person she is and wish her the very merriest Christmas ever this year.

Love,
Jen

Send me your Christmas memories of Grandma Angie at ellie_jenks@hotmail.com and I will post them for Grandma to read this Christmas! SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Ashley and Izaiah

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours with Ashley and Izaiah a couple of weeks ago. I was able to hold and rock our little sweetheart and I can't tell you how happy that made me. Being with Ashley and watching her with her little guy was a special experience. She is such an outstanding young woman and such a strong mother. She is my hero. Our little Izaiah is such a beautiful little boy and we can hardly wait to have him home with us.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. I loved having everyone for dinner at our new house. We have about 24 people seated a couple of little ones in their mother's arms. What fun cooking in my great new kitchen. Early in the day I took a couple of pictures, and wouldn't you know it! The batteries in my camera died! So you just have to take my word for it that we really did have guests for dinner. We loved using Grandma Ina's china. David couldn't believe I would use them!

Emily and Myka's Shower

The day after Thanksgiving Diane & Hannah gave a baby shower for Emily. Em's mom and sisters were here from Idaho and we all had lots of fun. Lots of baby talk and laughing, yummy treats and lots of adorable things for little Myka. The shower might have been for Emily, but MaeLee Ann really stole the show.

Welcome Baby Myka!

Well, on Dec. 6th we all welcomed little Myka into our family. What an adorable baby! She has captured all our hearts, and her daddy is absolutely ga-ga over her. Myka shares a birthday with her cousin, Tani, who turned 18 that day. Two beautiful girls!

Our Little Stud!

Here is our little Izaiah at 19 days old. He has grown 1 1/4 inches in length and now weighs 2 lbs. 4 oz. He had a visit this weekend from his big sister, Kenna. She so wanted to give him a kiss, but had to settle for just kissing and patting his little incubator! What sweethearts they are

Moto X Boys

I went to Reno & Treven's race meet yesterday and got some pictures I want to share. The first picture is Mark getting Trevie ready for his race. He won 4th place in his age group (age 4) He was such a champ. He never fell or even wobbled. He just chugged right along. Reno was just terrific. He won two first place trophies and one 2nd place. He was really smokin! I had a really great day with my boys.

Ashlee's Baby Shower

I just got around to transferring my photos from my camera to my computer and found such a good picture of nearly every one of my granddaughters all together. I think only Maddie and Tani are missing. What a wonderful group of terrific young women. You have no idea how happy it makes me every time I look at this picture. We were all together for a baby shower for Ashlee. I also love the one of me and Grandpa holding Taylor Joe and Brynlee. And now they are no longer such little babies.

Fish Lake

Mom and Dad went to Fish Lake this summer with Dad's family. They had such a great time. They really hope to be able to it again soon.

Hard Work!!

This is what Mom and Dad have been working so hard on all summer long. They say that all they ever do is weed, weed, weed, and then weed some more. Their yard is absolutely beautiful! Their garden is growing like crazy and they have harvested so much from it this year. And Dad’s corn was really good this year. We had to make fun of him last year because he grew just little mini corns. They tasted SO GOOD, but they were such a funny size. So, one day while we were at the mall getting some bows for baby Taylor we came across this sign and we just laughed and had to get it for him! They planted flowers all around their playhouse and it just looks so cute! Two very lucky little girls will be playing out there next year. All your hard work has defiantly paid off. It is beautiful Mom and Dad!

Happy Birthday!

So Dad turned 51 On August 29th. And we went out to eat as a family. Dad chose to go to a little Italian place in North Ogden. I’m not sure what it was called but it sure was yummy! Joe slipped out during dinner to tell out waitress that it was Dad’s birthday and so at the end of our meal she came out with a birthday dessert. Well, let’s just say it wasn’t the ordinary happy birthday here’s your dessert, dessert. We were giving him such a hard time while he was trying to decide what to order that the waitress thought she would just jump on board too. So she brought him a little pile of whipped cream with some chocolate chips on it and told him that she thought this might be easier for him to chew! Oh we laughed!! Thank-you to the funny waitress at the yummy Italian place for making the night so fun! And Happy birthday again Dad!

Bryn

Bryn is excited to get to go this weekend to her very first University of Utah football game! Daddy has been prepping her for this day since before she was born, a Utah girl is she!! {But, I hate to break it to her and Daddy but… Really this is her first Utah State University game! GO AGGIES, GO AGGIES, HEY HEY HEY!!} She now has her left eye tooth in and is starting to get her top two front teeth and her right eye tooth all at once, poor girl! She doesn’t sleep and Mom and Dad are really tired, but she is just growing up so fast. Little baby Bryn will be nine months old tomorrow! Bryn at the zoo with the Monkeys
